Flu season is around the corner! Now is a good time to weigh the pros and cons of getting the flu vaccine.
Did you know, the flu shot reduces the risk of flu illness by between 40% and 60% among the overall population?
Flu vaccination prevents millions of illnesses and flu-related doctor’s visits each year. It can lessen the severity of illness and reduce the likelihood of hospitalizations.
If you are at higher risk of developing serious flu complications, flu vaccination is especially important.
You may be at higher risk if you fall into any of the below categories:
- Adults over 65 years old
- Adults with chronic health issues
- Young children
- Pregnant women
- People with disabilities
- Minority racial and ethnic groups
Not sure if the vaccine is for you? We recommend discussing all concerns with your primary care doctor before making any decisions.
USFHP’s TRICARE Prime plan offers resources to help getting medical support easy. We’ve also developed incentive programs that give rewards to our members for meeting certain health goals.
