Admittedly, the holidays are not quite the same, but with a little creativity and planning it can still be one for the books! Besides, there are only three ground rules: stay safe, stay healthy and stay connected.
Stay safe. Spreading holiday cheer can seem synonymous with hugs, handshakes, and kisses so it can be easy to let up on CDC guidelines when running into friends while holiday shopping or dropping off gifts to family. Continue wearing masks and practicing social distancing. By staying at least 6 feet from people who are not in your household, both indoors and outdoors, you are lowering the risk of spreading the virus. Hang in there!
Stay healthy. Although the current restrictions are designed to benefit us all, we recognize the pandemic has impacted individuals and families in many ways, including mental health. Part of our 2020 goal at USFHP was to provide wellness tips to help our members and friends alleviate stress and better manage their health. We encourage those grappling with mental or physical health challenges to talk with a trusted confidant or consult with a doctor. No need to wait until the new year to reach out, help is available now if you need it.
Stay connected. The lack of physical connection has significantly altered our social interactions, but it does not have to slow us down. Coordinate a virtual celebration, gather with those living in your household, or participate in an outdoor socially distant activity. Remember to keep in touch with family members and friends who live alone, especially the older adults in your life. Have fun!
On behalf of USFHP, thank you for an incredible year! We look forward to serving you in the new year. Happy Holidays!
