Thanksgiving holiday falls in November and marks a time of the year when families and loved ones come together to express gratitude for their shared blessings. Some of the greatest blessings are the presence of family and loved ones, as well as our safety and well-being. It is the official start of the holiday season -- a season that offers the opportunity for families to spend more time with each other.
As we embark on this holiday season, let’s remember that November is also Military Family Appreciation Month. In this month, when we, as a nation, take time to recognize and honor the great sacrifices that families of those serving in our military make throughout the year.
“Our troops keep our nation safe from threats here at home and around the world, and our journey forward is not sustained by those in uniform alone. The United States is stronger and safer thanks to millions of military family members who, in sacrificing cherished moments with loved ones, selflessly afford us precious time with ours.” President Obama
Most of us, even as we watch today’s top news stories, are keenly aware of the commitment that our troops make to keep our nation safe. The families of these troops are to be commended not only for the support they provide from home, but also for sacrificing the daily presence of their loved ones.
As the holiday season approaches, let’s remember to give thanks to families of service members who protect us every day. We honor these brave families this month and show our gratitude for the sacrifices they make on our behalf.
