Living a long and healthy life would be ideal, right? Did you know, sitting for long periods of time impacts how you age?
The CDC recommends certain activities to remain active and independent for as long as you can. Here are six recommended ways to ensure you are at your healthiest state.
Balanced Diet
It starts with what you are eating and drinking. A strong food diet should consist of vegetables, fruits, lean meat, low-fat dairy products, whole grains, and lots of water. Consider making healthy eating decisions.
Staying Active
Another way of being in good shape and health is exercising. Doing physical activities such as walking for 22-30 minutes a day is recommended for moderate exercise. As well as muscle strengthening movement like carrying groceries. Getting some type of physical exercise each day can help prevent chronic diseases, falls, and improve your stamina and health.
Family History
Knowing your family history is also a great way to catch chronic diseases early that may become hereditarily passed down. Consider having a conversation with your doctor and family about any family sicknesses. By having your doctor up to speed with that information, some diseases could even be prevented.
Brain Health
Become aware of changes in your brain. Brain health is very important and everyone’s brain changes with age. Chat with your doctor about any concerns or questions you may have. Regular, annual doctor visits are also recommended for better health to stay up-to-date with what’s happening in your body. Some diseases and illnesses can be caught early or prevented by going to the doctor for regular checkups and wellness visits.
Don’t Smoke
Smoking can affect your health as well. It can have a huge, bad impact in your body, harming many of your organs. Smoking is not recommended to live a long and healthy life. Bad habits of smoking can prevent a longer life because of illnesses like heart, lung, and eye diseases.
