Summer is here! Maintaining a healthy lifestyle should not feel like a chore. Keeping track of your goals is an excellent way to measure your success. It will also increase your motivation to stay active while having fun.
Here are some activities that you might have some interest in:
- Outdoor sports: This summer is the perfect time to try the outdoor sport you have been wanting to try. For example, beach volleyball, soccer, frisbee, badminton, or tennis… the list goes on. All these sports are a great way to get your heart rate up while having fun with family and friends.
- Swimming: Whether you swim laps at a local pool or dip in the lake/ocean. Swimming is a low-impact activity that works your entire body and is a refreshing way to stay active.
- Nature activities: Hiking, rock climbing, water rafting, and kayaking are all great ways to explore the outdoors and get your steps in. Nature activities will give you a great workout while enjoying the beautiful scenery.
- Workout classes: Many gyms and fitness studios offer indoor and outdoor classes during the summer months. Feel free to try them out! At USFHP, we offer yoga, Martial Arts, or Zumba.
- Get Involved: Many communities offer fun outdoor events such as charity walks or runs, fitness challenges, or outdoor Tai Chi classes. These events are a great way to get your steps in and meet new people.
When exercising outdoors, remember to drink plenty of water and wear sunscreen. Most importantly, have fun and enjoy the summer!
