Did you know there are 256 unique characteristics, which form the human eye?! Our eyes have a complex job and an important one at that. From birth until old age we rely on our eyes to help us learn and process our surroundings. They help us feel connected to our world but also help keep us safe from danger. In fact, upwards of 80 percent of information humans perceive, process or “take-in,” is through the eyes. Medical research suggests the majority of the human brain is dedicated to processing visual impressions. It’s quite fascinating when you pause and ponder about it all. It makes us here at USFHP grateful for those dedicated professionals in Optometry, that have taken the time to learn the vast intricacies of these marvelous scientific wonders.
